The 1 April 2027 reporting deadline
Small producers report 2026 data and register by 1 April 2027. Large producers report July to December 2026 data the same day.
The next big date in packaging EPR is 1 April 2027. Here is what falls due then, and for whom, according to GOV.UK.
Small producers
Small producers report once a year. By 1 April 2027 you must report your packaging data for 1 January to 31 December 2026, and register for the year and pay the registration fee. GOV.UK's small-producer page says data for the previous calendar year is due by 1 April of the following year.
Large producers
Large producers report every six months. By 1 April 2027 you must report data for 1 July to 31 December 2026. The 1 January to 30 June 2026 data was due on 1 October 2026.
Large producers had to apply to register for 2027 by 1 October 2026. GOV.UK makes one exception: if your only packaging activity is selling filled packaging directly to the end user, you do not have to submit your 2027 registration application until 1 April 2027. GOV.UK says missing the registration deadline means a late fee of £386 and possible enforcement action.
Online marketplaces
Operators of online marketplaces that let non-UK sellers sell into the UK must also submit a methodology explaining how they collected their data, on or before 1 April each year for the previous calendar year. So the 2026 methodology is due by 1 April 2027.

Leave time for account approval
You can only report once your regulator has approved the person submitting as the 'approved person'. GOV.UK's large-producer registration guide says this can take up to 28 days. If you haven't set up a report packaging data account yet, do it well before March.
If you get it wrong
Changing data after you've submitted it may cost a resubmission fee: £807 if you're registered directly, or £512 through a compliance scheme. If you miss a deadline, GOV.UK says to contact your environmental regulator.
